Computer Chair Options — Are They Good For Big And Tall People?

I have been using computers in various environments for a long time, and rarely do people have a computer chair I’m comfortable in. I didn’t have a computer chair that was my size for a long time actually. And my neck and back are now paying for it now that I’m close to 40.

What is nice about a computer chair with height adjustment is that it can be as tall as you need. It’s also a little wider than the other chairs I’ve tried to use. And the cushioning is amazing, especially for long work and/or gaming sessions.

With that out of the way I want to say that being tall is painful in older age. I’ve already broken a hip and have to keep active as I really don’t want to be old and inactive like a lot of people I see. Being trapped in a bed or something later in life sounds like jail to me, and I’d rather not have to deal with that.

One other thing you may be interested in is a computer chair mat of some sort. You put it under the chair, and that way you are able to roll around and keep the chair from doing stuff like getting a wheel stuck in the carpet or causing damage in general as you roll around on any type of floor. Your parents or other people always tell you to watch your posture, yet nobody provides tall people with comfy computer chairs that allow them to do so. I have learned to sit in almost anything, including small cars. And it’s not fun but it’s how things are for big and tall people in America and likely most of the world.

Being 6′ 6″ isn’t easy, for sure, but I have found ways around the systems by just adjusting. But you can buy stuff for your own house that makes it appropriate for your size. Don’t just use the same things as everyone else, or you’ll end up with problems you didn’t even think of. Pains in all kinds of places, that other people won’t experience because they are not your size.

Basically, I’m saying don’t judge the safety of something like a chair based on what other people tell you. Sure it may work for them, but that’s because that’s who it was made for. Try listening to other people your size whether you’re big and/or tall you can find others like you even if they aren’t common at least these days we have the internet to connect with.
